Halesa the archaeological site
It is only 5 km and is an area of great archaeological interest. The city was founded by Halesa Archonides dynasty of the Erbita 403 A.C. and for this it was called Arconidea…. According to another tradition, the founders were the Carthaginians.
Halesa Arconidea was the first Sicilian city to pass by the Romans in 263 A.C. and it was treated with special favor, making it free and immune cities. The decay began bC, when it became a municipality governed by duòmviri, two magistrates.
The walls, strengthened by towers, completely surrounded the city, who had a very regular plant, Typical of the Hellenistic, as you can see in Solunto. The remains of the two temples in the highest part, the agora, colonnati from chapel, podiums and pedestals of statues, floors and materials, the necropolis outside the walls niches, together give the image of this ancient city.
